Larry Lange seems to believe that those who vote differently than him are evil, bad or just plain stupid (“Pretty sure Trump would not approve this message,” Times-Standard, Nov. 26, Page A4). But everyone wants a clean environment. Lead-infested water was in a city run by Democrats for over 60 years. Dealing with climate requires science and all science is based on being skeptical. Emotion, money or politics have no place in making decisions. Who tries to prevent speakers from exercising their First Amendment? Who tears down statues, monuments, crosses that have stood for decades? Who is assaulting the Second Amendment? Who wants to abolish the Electoral College? Who wants to pack the Supreme Court? Who has not accepted the 2016 election results. I never participated in name-calling of Obama. I probably would have been called a racist. I believe the national press is biased; that is my opinion as a free thinking citizen. But hate the press, no! Obama built the cages that children are in. And if we have a secure border no one would ever be arrested, put in detention or deported. Let’s have a fair and orderly immigration policy. We all want that, right? I am glad the dictator of Bolivia was ousted and I am waiting for the fall of the despots in Cuba, Venezuela, Iran to fall and I’m rooting for the folks in Hong Kong.

Dictators cannot be voted in or out of office, they ignore results of free elections.

So you see, those supporting the president aren’t all bad. We do however differ in our hopes and goals; that is what is great about a free people in a free nation. I don’t hate or mock Mr. Lange for voting differently from me. But I do expect him to respect my right to vote for the candidate of my choice. That is freedom.
