Point Loma 102 Humboldt State 91

RaySean Scott Jr. dropped 33 points and Leland Green added 31 more but it wasn’t enough as the Humboldt State men’s basketball team couldn’t match Point Loma Nazarene University down the stretch in a 102-91 loss, Friday night on the road at Golden Gymnasium in San Diego.

Humboldt (0-1) trailed by a small 42-39 margin at the break but couldn’t hold down Point Loma in the second-half, giving up 60 points in the final 20 minutes.

Jackson Strong was the only other ‘Jacks player to hit double figures scoring wise, doing so with 11 points.

Green had a very efficient night behind the arc, going 6-for-9 on 3-point attempts in the loss.

Darnell Robateau led Point Loma with 23 points. He was one of four Point Loma players to score at least 14 points in the win.

Humboldt picks back up tonight at 5:30 p.m. against Fresno Pacific

De Anza 72 Redwoods 67

Starting forward Donald Willis missed the game due to injury and it didn’t help Redwoods one bit as the College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team fell 72-67 to De Anza on the final night of the American River Classic in Sacramento.

Thomas Nelson led Redwoods with 16 points. A.J. Stubbs erupted for a season-high 15 points in the loss while Elysha Jackson finished with 10.

Redwoods (4-2) returns to action Thursday, on the road at Napa Valley.
