WHY RAIDERS COULD WIN: Coach Jon Gruden has a chance to ride rookie running back Josh Jacobs once again. Jacobs has 740 rushing yards and he just broke the Raiders’ all-time single-season rushing mark previously held by Marcus Allen. … There appears to be a prime opportunity for the Raiders’ pass rush to do some damage for a change as the Chargers’ offensive line is just the 29th-ranked unit in the league, according to Pro Football Focus. … At 4-4, Oakland has a chance to turn its season around with a win Thursday as a peek at their next two games shows very winnable games against the Bengals and Jets.

WHY CHARGERS COULD WIN: Philip Rivers has a history of making things tough on the Raiders. The Chargers quarterback has beaten Oakland 18 times in 26 games in his career. No quarterback in NFL history has more wins over the Raiders. … Still, the Chargers will have a bit of a different look as they’re trying to focus more on the run under new offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, who took over at offensive coordinator when Ken Whisenhunt was fired last week. After failing to rush for more than 40 yards in four straight games, the Chargers ran for a season-high 159 yards in their upset win over the Packers. … Nick Bosa’s big brother, Nick, is starting to heat up. Bosa has 5 1/2 sacks in his last three games and he’s third overall in the league with nine sacks on the season.

RAIDERS NEXT GAME: vs. Cincinnati Bengals in Oakland on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 1:25 p.m. (PT).
