The loss of power to the bulk of Humboldt County has seen more than a few Humboldt-Del Norte games moved to earlier in the day, or altogether postponed.

Football

Football wise, Arcata High will be playing its home game against Hoopa Valley at 4 p.m. at the Redwood Bowl on Friday. St. Bernard’s likewise has moved its homecoming game against Stellar Prep to 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.

If the power comes back on Thursday or Friday morning, Arcata will play the game under the lights at 7 p.m.

No updates have were announced when this edition went to press regarding Fortuna’s home game against Foothill-Palo Cedro which, as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, was scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday. However if power is not restored the game will likely be moved ahead earlier in the day, or to Saturday.

Eureka’s road game at Chico on Friday remains slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Ferndale’s home game against McKinleyville, a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, remains unchanged.

Soccer and volleyball

The majority of H-DNL soccer and volleyball teams are taking the outages day-by-day and are making scheduling announcements the day of. In most cases, matches will be moved ahead two to three hours and be played while the sun is still up. On Wednesday, the majority of H-DNL teams played their volleyball matches starting with JV at 3 or 4 p.m. with varsity following, rather than at the normally scheduled time of 5 p.m.

Soccer, likewise, has seen most of its matches moved earlier in to the afternoon.

College of the Redwoods

Redwoods’ AD Bob Brown said he would have a better idea of any changes to scheduled events Thursday afternoon.

Football is scheduled to host Cabrillo at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Redwood Bowl while both men’s and women’s soccer will be on the road Friday at College of the Siskiyous and no changes were reported as of 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Humboldt State

Volleyball’s home game against Cal State East Bay, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed with no date yet announced. The Jacks home game Saturday at 7 p.m. against San Francisco State was still slated for its original time when this edition went to press.

Men’s and women’s soccer are on the road in Southern California this weekend and are unaffected by the outages.
