The Historical Sites Society of Arcata, which operates the Phillips House Museum in Arcata, has a different docent every weekend working in the museum, which is open every Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The museum is located at the corner of Union and Seventh streets.

The docents include:

· Sunday: Ann McClary, a longtime docent at the Phillips House

· Sept. 22:  Dan Hauser, who knows the history of all the railroads in Arcata

· Sept. 29: John Barstow, who knows the architectural history of Arcata’s homes and especially of Phillips House

· Oct. 6: Madison Hazen, a student of anthropology and religious studies at HSU who has some stories to share about the Phillips House.

· Oct. 13:  Sherry Eaten, who knows the ins and outs of the Phillips House and is especially keen to tell exactly how the ironer in the kitchen got to be called “the mangler.”
