Eddy Alexander is seeking input from the city of Eureka about how the city should market itself.

The Roanoke, Virginia-based marketing firm contracted by Eureka mailed a postcard to every home and business in the city on Friday asking them to share their opinions, according to a press release. The survey can also be taken online at and in person at city hall or the library.

“It’s critically important that we understand what local residents and business owners want from their promotions program,” said Bob Gilbert of Eddy Alexander. “What they value about their community, and how they want to be perceived by the outside world.”

The survey should take about 15 to 30 minutes to complete and will be available until Sept. 15 at midnight, according to the release. The results will be shared later this fall, it stated.

In June, the Eureka City Council decided to contract with Eddy Alexander, shifting the funding the city had been giving to the Humboldt County Visitors Bureau, formerly the Humboldt County Convention and Visitors Bureau, for more than 40 years because the city wanted a higher return on its investment.
