Redwood Creek: The Fortuna Senior Hiking Group plans to hike on Friday at Redwood Creek in Redwood National Park, starting and ending at the trailhead, one half mile off Bald Hills Road. Participants can choose to stay on the easy Redwood Creek Trail for a distance of their choice, out and back, or leave the Redwood Creek Trail at Elam Creek Loop, taking that for two miles before returning to Redwood Creek Trail and back to the trailhead. The latter is a distance of 10 miles round trip. Bring lunch and money to share the cost of gas and meet at 9 a.m. at Rohner Park in Fortuna to carpool or at 9:20 a.m. in the Target parking area in Eureka. Scotia: Scotia Band, Humboldt County’s oldest Community Band since 1935, invites all Humboldt County woodwind, brass and percussion musicians (intermediate level and above) of all ages to join. Membership is free. The band rehearses with conductor Ken Ayoob Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Fortuna High Band Room and perform publicly or in schools approximately 10 times per year.
