Campus cleanups
PUBLISHED: | UPDATED:

In April, the PacOut Green Team worked with students from Zane Middle School (instructor Joan Crandell) and Eureka High (instructor Lucia Boyer) to remove trash on and around each campus. PacOut Green Team is a group that hosts weekly cleanups of scenic areas around Humboldt County. Students from each school have been working with the Storm Drain Defenders, an environmental education program created by Denise Newman of Redwood Community Action Agency. This program teaches students about the importance of healthy watersheds and encourages stewardship through lessons in water quality and responsible disposal of recyclables and landfill material. Pam Halstead, education liaison and PacOut Green Team board member, and Sierra Jenkins, Eureka videographer, worked with students on the project.
