Ferndale Arts Gallery’s featured artist of the month is watercolorist Pat Cahill. Growing up on a dairy farm in Ferndale has influenced Cahill’s favorite subjects to paint — flowers and animals. Currently, she’s trying some new painting surfaces, including canvases and Masonite board, which are treated with an absorbent surface to accept watercolor paint and don’t need to be framed under glass. Her painting “Dutch Iris,” pictured, was created on Aquaboard and then sealed to prevent the paint from moving. Cahill shows her work exclusively at Ferndale Arts Gallery, which is located at 580 Main St. As a co-operative gallery, a local artist is always on duty and available to answer questions and guide visitors through the wide variety of art.
