Students can meet county supervisors
Humboldt LIVE! is a local leadership and career exploration class that gives local students an opportunity to see county government in action, including field trips to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors as an agendized item.
“The main takeaway is just encouraging the students to see what representative government looks like and how they work,” said Jim Ritter, who organizes the trips. “And, of course, encourage those kids as they get older and becoming voting age to stay engaged.”
Recently, a group of Arcata High School students visited the board of supervisors and met 3rd District Supervisor Mike Wilson. Ritter said as part of the class, there is civic curriculum introduced.
