The 52nd Humboldt International Film Fest is seeking three guest judges for this year’s festival. To apply, applicants must be 18 years of age and submit a letter explaining their qualifications to email@example.com by March 29. A resume is optional.
For the first time since 1967, the festival is seeking guest judges from the community to decide this year’s winning films. The Humboldt International Film Fest celebrates independent films from around the world in four categories: Narrative, Documentary, Experimental and Animation.
Entries are pre-screened by certified student judges in the film festival class at the university. Final films will be screened and judged at the festival by the three selected guest judges.
The film festival will take place on April 19 to 22 at the Minor Theatre in Arcata. Winning films will be announced on the final day, April 22, at the Best of the Fest screening.
“This year, we are trying to bring film to the community not just as a festival, but as a social and networking event,” co-director Peter Blickensderfer said. “There are a lot of gems in film in Humboldt”
Judges are required to attend all festival screenings and will receive a $100 honorarium for participating.
