Three vehicles were reported stolen from the Campton Heights area of Fortuna this week, and the Fortuna Police Department is asking for the public’s help in its investigation. (Mary Bullwinkel — for The Times-Standard)

Three vehicles were reported stolen from the Campton Heights area of Fortuna earlier this week.

As of Wednesday evening, only one of the stolen vehicles was found, and it was located partially submerged in the Van Duzen River near Carlotta. This vehicle was a 2018 Chevy Colorado pickup, and it was the first of the three vehicles reported stolen. The pickup was taken from a residence in the 3000 block of Campton Heights Drive.

The second vehicle reported stolen was from the 3800 block of Campton Heights Drive and it was a 1992 Honda Accord, champagne in color. The vehicle is believed to have been stolen sometime between 11 a.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. It was stated in a news release that the 1992 Honda has two bumper stickers on the rear bumper: An Estelle Fennell sticker and one that reads “Ignorance is Bliss.” All keys are accounted for this vehicle, according to the owner.

The third vehicle was a silver 2002 Honda Civic, taken from Summer Street sometime between 1 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle keys have also been accounted for, according to Fortuna police.

The Fortuna Police Department is asking anyone living in these two areas who might have video surveillance recordings and anyone who might have spotted the remaining two reported stolen vehicles, to please contact the office at 707-725-7550.

FPD Sgt. Jason Kadle reminded the community to “never leave keys in your vehicle, always securely lock your vehicle, and make sure windows are rolled up.”

He also reminded the community to avoid leaving valuables in cars, including items such as credit cards.
