Beachgoers build structures from driftwood, the ocean deconstructs them

  • Dacota Huzzen, Travis Barter, and their dog Bagheera, all of Willow Creek, walk on Samoa Beach near a driftwood structure near numerous trees, logs, branches, and other woody debris strewn on some area beaches from recent river flooding. It was the 4-month-old pup’s first ever visit to the beach, and he chased wind-blown sea foam and played with another young dog. Many more driftwood structures that were created by weekend beachgoers had already been leveled by waves at high tides, but some remained. (Shaun Walker — The Times-Standard)
