The Humboldt Senior Resource Center will celebrate Valentine’s Day Thursday at the senior dining centers in Arcata, Eureka and Fortuna.
At the Eureka dining center, a Valentine’s Day party will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
According to Cathy Denbo, the Eureka Dining Center coordinator, “Valentine’s Day is one of our favorite celebrations at the center. It’s a reminder of how special all of our friends are, both here and in the community. All of our guests have a great time enjoying the food and festivities. We look forward to welcoming our returning friends and new faces to the party.”
At the Fortuna Dining Center, the Valentine party will include music and festive decorations. In Arcata, site coordinator Vanessa Kuersten invites guests to “come celebrate Valentine’s Day with a sweet treat and good company at the Arcata Senior Dining Center! Bring pictures of loved ones to share or — better yet — bring a sweetie or a friend!”
Lunch service begins at 11:30 a.m. in Arcata and Eureka and at noon in Fortuna. The special holiday meal being served at all three centers includes Chicken Wellington, mashed potatoes, Pacific-blend vegetables, peaches and red velvet cake. Low-fat or nonfat milk is served with each meal. Menus are subject to change without notice.
The suggested donation is $3.50 for those age 60 and older, though no senior age 60 and older will be denied a meal if unable to donate. For those under 60, there is a $6 fee.
