Orick: The Fortuna Senior Hiking Group has rescheduled a trail walk in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park that was postponed several weeks ago. The choice of trail(s) will be decided Friday morning at the Visitor Center. Bring lunch and money to share the cost of gas and meet at 9 a.m. at Rohner Park in Fortuna to carpool, at 9:20 a.m. in the Target parking area in Eureka or at 10:20 a.m. at the Prairie Creek Visitor Center. The group’s hikes are weather permitting, subject to change Friday morning and are open to adults age 50 and over in good hiking health. Fortuna: Saturday’s meeting of the Humboldt County Embroiderers Guild will be at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 2132 Smith Lane. The program will be a demonstration of blackwork. Material, threads, needles, beads and directions will be provided to make a small Christmas ornament.

Scotia: The Scotia Band, Humboldt County’s oldest Community Band since 1935, invites all Humboldt County woodwind, brass and percussion musicians (intermediate level and above) of all ages to join. Membership is free. The band rehearses with conductor Ken Ayoob Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in the Fortuna High Band Room and performs publicly or in schools approximately 10 times per year.
