The following is a press release from California Highway Patrol:
On December 09, 2018, at approximately 2:30 PM, Crescent City Area CHP responded to a traffic collision located on US HWY 101 south of Mill Creek Campground. Upon arrival, officers located a two vehicle traffic collision involving a Saturn sedan and a Winnebago motor home. For reasons still under investigation, the sedan crossed into the opposing traffic lane, causing it to collide with the motor home. The two occupants of the motor home were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Three occupants of the Saturn were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital and treated for their injuries. The adult male occupant of the Saturn was pronounced deceased at the scene. The highway was closed for approximately one hour to facilitate the investigation. One way traffic control was then established until the roadway could be re-opened. The cause of the collision is under investigation. The two occupants of the Winnebago reside in McKinleyville.
