I am responding to the $450,000 traffic light proposal at the intersection of Vigo Street and Broadway. Has the Eureka City Council lost all reality regarding the daily flow of traffic on Broadway and what the consequences might be by adding yet another traffic signal? This is an absolutely flawed idea.

Has our honorable City Council remembered that the Broadway corridor is a major artery for north- and southbound commerce 24/7 from Oregon through California? No.

Has the council considered the impact on local commuter and business flow from Arcata to Eureka and Fortuna? No.

Is the council fully prepared for the possibility that the Carrington Company might not reimburse the city of Eureka for the difference of $450,000 after the agreed-upon four-year period? No.

This plan is seriously flawed and will have a long-lasting negative impact on our community.

Stop the political and commercial madness, regain a sense of reality and leave the traffic flow on the Broadway corridor alone!
