Humboldt Bay Firefighters will kick off the annual “Share the Magic of Christmas” toy drive at the Bayshore Mall on Dec. 1 at 9:45 a.m. with firefighters escorting Santa Claus from the food court to Santa’s Pavilion. Children will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Santa Claus and local firefighters at that time.

Humboldt Bay Firefighters will be collecting toys for the toy drive at the Bayshore Mall in Eureka Nov. 23 and 24 and will also be collecting toys at the Humboldt County Artisans Craft Fair at Redwood Acres in Eureka on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 and 2. (Bring a toy and get in to the fair for free.) All donated toys will be given to Humboldt County children.

The firefighters will also be accepting cash donations for their Santa for Seniors program. All funds raised will go to help support the Humboldt Senior Resource Center’s “White Bag” Program, which provides holiday meals for local seniors in need.

New, unwrapped toys and donations will also be collected until Dec. 15 at other venues around town, including all Humboldt Bay Fire Stations and all Eureka State Farm Insurance offices. Donations can also be dropped off in Eureka at Eureka City Hall, George Peterson Insurance, both Starbucks Coffee locations, Provident Credit Union, Central Office Copy Center, Discovery Museum, Humboldt Smoke House and The Banana Hut.
