Dear Eureka City Council,
Really? A stop-light for $450,000 out of un-budgeted city funds? For a fast food restaurant that extracts money from Eureka? (“Eureka to consider $450,000 traffic signal,” Times-Standard, Nov. 2, Page A1.)
If you can find $450,000 you can identify and allow safe, legal, supervised campgrounds for the thousand or so currently homeless in Eureka. Now that would be an economic fix, decreased police time, decreased medical costs, and certainly better for the “important” tourist industry. Not to mention the human rights of folks living rough because we do not have adequate shelter beds or permanent housing.
