The Fortuna boys soccer team advanced to its fourth consecutive North Coast Section Division-I championship match after shutting out previously undefeated Fort Bragg 4-0 in the semifinal round of the NCS playoffs, Wednesday night at Fort Bragg High School.

No. 3 Fortuna (21-1-2) found offense from a few of its most consistent goal-scorers of the 2018 season on Wednesday night as Fernando Atilano scored two goals and Aaron Mignon and Antonio Garcinuno each added one goal in the win over No. 2 Fort Bragg (15-1-3).

“It was a good match, they had a very good center fielder that we had to contend with all night,” Fortuna head coach Daniel Holmes said. “But, we kept the ball on their half for most of the match and we were able to break them down a few times to score.”

Fortuna will face upstart Del Norte in the NCS championship match on Saturday. Time and location are TBA.

No. 5 Del Norte (13-2-3) knocked off No. 1 International (14-2-1) 2-1 in overtime for what will go down as the biggest upset in these 2018 NCS playoffs, Wednesday night at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.

Del Norte has already advanced further in the playoffs this season than in any other season in school history and can win its first NCS title on Saturday when it faces Fortuna.
