Press release from the Humboldt Bay Fire Department:
Early this morning at just after midnight, Humboldt Bay Fire responded with two engines, one truck, one squad and two chief officers to a reported structure fire to the rear of 411 W. Harris St. The first arriving engine reported a single story, residential structure fully involved with fire in alley to the rear of 411 W. Harris St. Due to the threat of the fire spreading to neighboring businesses a commercial second alarm was requested.
The fire was controlled in 30 minutes and the commercial second alarm was canceled. Damage was limited to the original fire building with an estimated loss of $100,000. Humboldt Bay Fire remained on scene for an additional two hours and the cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Humboldt Bay Fire received mutual aid from Samoa-Peninsula Fire District, Arcata Fire District, Loleta Fire District, Fortuna Fire District, Eureka Police Department, City Ambulance and PG&E.
