The top four golfers in the Humboldt-Del Norte League competed in the North Coast Section Division I girls golf championship at Tilden Park Golf Course on Monday in Berkeley. Although none of the four girls made the cut to qualify for the NorCal championship, each did deliver a competitive round of golf to close out the 2018 season.

McKinleyville’s Molly Citro, Isabella Sundberg and Phoebe Sundberg as well as Arcata’s Avary Henry made the trip south to Berkeley on Monday after qualifying for the 138-person tournament based off of their performances at the NCS Division II championship back on Oct. 15.

Phoebe Sundberg had the best day of the four local golfers as she finished tied for 22nd after shooting a 79, her third best round during all of the 2018 season, on Monday. Her 79, however, was not enough to advance to NorCal’s as a score of 74 was the cutoff at Tilden.

Citro, the regular season individual H-DNL champion, shot an 84 on Monday. Citro outright won four of the seven rounds she played during the regular season and was the anchor for her H-DNL champion Panthers.

Isabella Sundberg shot an 88 on Monday and Henry, the lone non-Panther of the group at Tilden, shot a 93.
