In his time on the Harbor Commission, Richard Marks has been an effective and tireless advocate for our harbor district, our community, and for Humboldt County. His work securing funding to clean up the pulp mill and his support in creating the Redwood Marine Terminal II which helped create 100 new jobs in Humboldt County here are just a few of the reasons we need to keep Richard as our voice on the harbor commission.

With strong blue collar roots, Richard has strong support from those of us working and living paycheck to paycheck. He realizes smart planning and having a positive vision are necessary to keep our harbor an economic engine working for Humboldt County.I first met Richard when he was a basketball referee for my daughter and son’s basketball games about five years ago. Not too long after that I was lucky enough to work with Richard in the nonprofit world and he was a positive and strong leader as an executive director. I learned a lot — and quickly — while working with him. To this day, Richard still asks me how my children are doing and what sports they are playing.

Richard is a kind, smart, and positive person who looks for ways to bring people together. Too many people in politics focus on the negative and division and focus on stopping progress instead of creating it. It’s for all these reasons, I will be positively voting for Richard Marks! I hope you’ll join me.
