I’ve known Richard Marks for most of his life. He’s a practical person and as done a lot for this community.

Mr. Marks’ opponent in the harbor district race is actually attacking him for cleaning up the pulp mill and supporting zoning changes that led to business growth and employment. Over 200 people are employed by the businesses that now occupy the two formerly abandoned mill sites.

But Mr. Marks’ opponent is criticizing how that happened. Her approach seems to be waiting for the east-west railroad, powered by engines not yet invented, to swoop in and solve our problems for us.

I would challenge her to face the business owners and employees that are thriving at the former mill and tell them that the harbor district was wrong to help them.

I don’t know about you, but I want real jobs now, not fantasy jobs in the future. After all, you can’t support your family on pipe dreams and mythical railroads. Choose reality over fantasy. Vote Richard Marks.
