Arcata Police Department’s Juvenile Diversion Program has begun open enrollment to register for the next Parent Project course session which is set to begin on Thursday, Oct. 18.

The Parent Project courses are held once a week for an 11-week session and are intended to help primary caregivers improve their child’s attendance and performance in school. Additionally, communication techniques are taught to aid with the prevention and intervention of drug-use and gang involvement.

Starting on Oct. 18, the sessions will be held once a week at McKinleyville High School Library, 1300 Murray Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. A $35 materials fee is required, however fee waivers are available to those in need. Dinner, free child care and a teen study area are provided at no additional cost.
