Humboldt State University and the North Coast Small Business Development Center network are hosting the North Coast Procurement Expo in Eureka on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4. Business owners in the area are encouraged to attend and meet purchasers from the state and country-in addition to local government agencies with extensive knowledge about processes and legal advice to create and expand businesses. The exposition is intended to assist local business owners find appropriate markets for their goods and create dialogue to help small business owners.

The intent is to help small business owners create a streamlined way to efficiently approach governmental and bureaucratic obstacles while building a robust business. Counselors will be available to assist patrons with any questions regarding the navigation of the business-building process.

Events include the Preparatory Workshop on Oct. 3 and the Procurement Expo on Oct. 4. The following is an agenda for both days, compiled from the PTAC:

Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, 921 Waterfront Drive, Eureka: This day is for businesses new to government contracting and is designed to help you make the most of the expo. These workshops are not required.

10-10:30 a.m.: Registration and networking10:30-11 a.m.: How to make the most of the expo11 a.m. to noon: How to write a capabilities statementNoon to 1 p.m.: Networking and lunch provided1-2 p.m.: Access to contracts: why your company should get certified2-3 p.m.: Which government agencies buy what I sell?3-4 p.m.: How to prepare to compete for corporate business — from a utility perspective

Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Sequoia Conference Center, 901 Myrtle Ave., Eureka: Network with local, state, and federal agencies who are looking to buy the products or services you sell. Lunch and continental breakfast catered by Ramone’s.
