Body ID’d: Ricardo Galvez-Calleja, 54, of Mexico was identified following a Sept. 8 autopsy as the man who was found dead on Bell Springs Road on Sept. 2. No immediate cause of death was found and an official cause of death is pending further analysis. Investigators ask anyone who might have known Galvez-Calleja while he was in Humboldt County to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251.

Home invasion: On Tuesday around 10 a.m., sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 3200 block of Redwood Drive in for a report of a home invasion armed robbery that occurred that morning.
According to victims at the residence, at about 4:30 a.m. three unknown, Spanish-speaking male subjects forced entry into the residence. The suspects were reportedly in possession of firearms and tied up the residents inside, demanding money. The suspects fled the scene with approximately $4,000 cash and jewelry. Two victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This case is under investigation.

EurekaThe following was compiled from a Eureka Police Department news release:
Arson: On Monday around 5:06 a.m., officers responded to St. Bernard’s Catholic Church for a report of a suspicious fire.Humboldt Bay Fire personnel extinguished a small fire near an exterior door. The fire appeared to be suspicious in nature and caused minor damage.
Officers are investigating the incident as an arson and are requesting the public’s help in identifying a possible suspect, who was captured on surveillance footage. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Officer Dalby at 707-441-4060.
