Hospice of Humboldt is offering free grief support now through September 18. Since 1979, Hospice of Humboldt has worked with the community to provide grief support and is doing so through September 18. Community members are welcome to speak with counselors and others at drop-in group meetings available in Humboldt County:
ARCATA: Mondays, 6pm-7:30pm, Jacoby Storehouse, 791 Eighth St., fourth floor conference room.
EUREKA: Wednesdays, 5:30pm-7pm; Fridays, 1pm-2:30pm; Saturdays (Slipper Club – casual drop-in session), 9am-10:30am., 3327 Timber Fall Court.
FORTUNA: Wednesdays, 6pm-7:30pm, Brookdale Fortuna (Formerly Sequoia Springs), 2401 Redwood Way.

Breast thermography will be available
Breast thermography will be available in Garberville on Sat., Sept 22. The thermography technician comes every 4 months to Garberville. If interested in scheduling or learning more, call 707-986-7356.
Gulliver’s Travels Performances
The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) will be presenting GULLIVER’S TRAVELS. The performances are scheduled for Saturday, September 15th, doors at 4:30pm, curtain 5pm and a second performance with doors open at 7pm and curtain at 7:30. 3rd Annual Neighborhood Watch Block Party September 15th
The Eureka Police Department, the City of Eureka, and I Like Eureka are sponsoring a free community wide Block Party on Saturday, from 11 am-4 pm at Carson Park in Eureka. This event offers live music, zumba classes, booths, food for purchase and contests held by Humboldt Bay Fire, demonstrations and plenty of opportunities to win prizes. Representatives from many local emergency service departments, including Eureka Police Department, Humboldt Bay Fire, Humboldt Sheriff’s and County Office Emergency Services, Red Cross, Community Emergency Response Teams, Neighborhood Watch Groups and more, will be on hand to answer your questions about crime prevention and Neighborhood Watch.
Aikido Classes begin at the Mateel September 17th
Aikido classes are back for the Fall at the Mateel with Sensei Russel Wisby. Classes are held 4pm to 5:30, with advanced students staying until 6 on Mondays and Wednesdays during the school year beginning September 17th. Class will be canceled for theTrevor Hall show on September 19th but resume the following week on Monday, September 24th. The first class is free, $10 per class after that. Come to class to sign up!
Trevor Hall at the Mateel September 19th
The Mateel and Ineffable Live present acoustic rock, reggae, world music singer songwriter Trevor Hall. The show takes place Friday, September 19th at the Mateel Community Center, 59 Rusk Lane in Redway. The event is all-ages, doors are at 8pm, show time is 9pm. Tickets are on sale now both online and at regional outlets for $25 in advance, $30 day of show.
Rapper E-40 Returns to The Mateel September 21st
Ineffable Live and Mateel Community Center present rapper E-40, Friday September 21st at the Mateel, 59 Rusk Lane in Redway. With 27 albums to his credit and millions of records sold, rapper E-40 brings his streetwise lyrical storytelling tinged with humor to Humboldt for an all-ages show with Nef the Pharaoh & OMB Peezy as the support acts. The show starts at 9pm and doors are at 8pm. Tickets are available in advance for $35 online and at regional outlets, the tickets are $40 at the door.Originally from Vallejo, California, E-40 released a new album on August 24th entitled THE GIFT OF GAB. Its the first album in a trilogy of projects titled The Definition Series. The album contains 12 tracks and features contributions from Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign and more.
