The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 47 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 56 cents per share.
The genetic testing company posted revenue of $37.3 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $30.7 million.
Invitae shares have dropped 11 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $8.04, a decrease of 21 percent in the last 12 months.
