Kris Bubic, Stanford baseball: The former Archbishop Mitty High star (Class of 2015) is 5-0 with a 2.52 ERA in nine starts this season for Stanford, which is 31-5 overall and 12-3 in conference. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound left-hander has 58 strikeouts and 17 walks.
Jake Haener and Peyton Henry, University of Washington football: The former Monte Vista High standouts, who helped lead the Mustangs to the North Coast Section Division I championship in 2016, had an eye-catching spring with the Washington football team. According to the Seattle Times, Haener tightened his grasp on the teams No. 2 quarterback spot behind three-year starter Jake Browning and Henry was solid handling much of the teams spring kicking duties. Coach Chris Petersen named Haener one of his six most valuable players of the spring, writing in a Tweet that included a photo of the players: Very proud of how these guys performed this spring. Constantly brought their best every day.
