OAKLAND — It looks like Warriors guard Stephen Curry will not be able to prove Warriors coach Steve Kerr wrong.

The Warriors will reevaluate Curry in a week, which officially sidelines him for at least Games 1, 2 and 3 of their first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs. Kerr has long maintained Curry will not play in the first round. The Warriors and Curry have targeted for him to return at some point in the Western Conference semifinals, assuming the Warriors advance.

Nonetheless, Curry plans to ramp up his on-court rehabilitation this week after the Warriors said he “has made steady functional progress” since suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee on March 23. Those drills will include both running exercises as well as drills that expands Curry’s lateral movement.

“When he’s ready, he’s ready,” Kerr said. “He’s making progress, which is a good sign.”

In the past week, Curry participated in light shooting and running drills as well as stretching exercises with a resistance band.
