Humboldt County District Attorney Maggie Fleming has added Deputy District Attorney Tobias Hasler to her staff.

Mr. Hasler, a graduate of UC Santa Cruz and Tulane University Law School, previously worked as an intern with both the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office and the Santa Barbara Superior Court. Here in Humboldt County, He will be assigned a general misdemeanor caseload.

This hiring restores last year’s staffing level of 17 full-time attorneys, with three of those positions funded by Measure Z.


Dan Ehresman is the new executive director of the The Northcoast Regional Land Trust. Ehresman brings nearly twenty years of experience in the conservation sector to NRLT. Prior to joining NRLT staff as Project Manager in January 2016, Ehresman served as executive director of the Northcoast Environmental Center. Throughout his career he has designed and managed a wide range of conservation projects, secured substantial funding to advance conservation priorities on the North Coast, and played a key role in across-the-aisle meetings on land and water policy. He has a strong background of effectively building relationships with landowners, agency representatives, and funders to create tangible solutions to complete important conservation projects. Ehresman will begin on March 1 with a month overlap with NRLT’s current executive director for training and transition of leadership.

Scholarships will be awarded to Humboldt County high school seniors who are, or will be, enrolled at a college or university whose studies are centered on, or support, a career in the real estate industry, including the professional areas of: sales, finance, management, appraisal, investments, economics/law, escrow, title/property management, interior decorating, construction technologies, landscaping, woodworking, cabinet making, architectural design, engineering and drafting.
