On Wednesday, July 6, Persimmons Garden Gallery in Redway presents an Open Mic hosted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tony Nester. No need to call ahead to participate, just stop by to play or listen.

On Thursday, July 7, The Funnicators are in town. The band includes Mumzer on harps & vocals, Michael Curran on drums and vocals, Jasha Mae on bass and vocals, Damien Roomets on dobro, Brock and Robbie McKee on guitar and vocals. Devoted to party music, the band covers soul classics by James Brown, Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett, songs like “Midnight Hour,” “I Feel Good” and “Mustang Sally.”

The location is hosting an art opening on Friday, July 8 from 6-10 p.m. introducing artist Brian Allison. Organizers call Allison a “mischievous and imaginative photographer with an eye for detail and a talent at capturing magic and beauty in his images.” Formerly from Tennessee, Allison is a northern Californian now.
