HALF MOON BAY — An alleged purse snatcher was collared by an off-duty San Francisco police officer earlier this month, according to police.

Police said the victim was robbed March 12 in the 400 block of Main Street. The officer, who was not named, witnessed the purported crime, chased after the suspect and found him hiding behind a tree just east of San Benito Street, according to police.

Francisco Javier Lopez-Raya, 19, of Half Moon Bay, was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of robbery and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.
