Redway >> Judy Evenson is an award winning painter who is passionate about watercolor. She began painting and exhibiting her work in the mid ‘80s, finding watercolor to be compelling, compatible and intuitive in both process and result. She exhibits nationally and regionally, and teaches locally.
“Watercolor is a medium which captures light by it’s very transparency,” Evansons said. “Recently I have been painting on a new surface, Yupo, which is an opaque smooth plastic sheet. Paint handles very differently, flowing more freely and with increased intensity, than on traditional paper.”
Evanson’s subject matter is the world around her, it’s beauty, it’s variability and it’s complexity. “Expression is the key, the textures of this world, expressed with feeling an color,” she added.
You can meet the artist at her opening at Persimmons in Redway on Friday Oct. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. There will also be music that evening, with the HumBros. You can see more of Evanson’s work at www.judyevenson.com.
