Little League baseball: Los Altos Yankees lose heartbreaker in District 44 TOC”s

The Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Yankees rallied from behind in the single-elimination District 44 Little League Majors Tournament of Champions on Saturday, but couldn”t hold on for the win. Los Altos scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take an 8-7 lead, but Campbell scored two in the bottom of the sixth to win 9-8 in a thriller at Raynor Park in Sunnyvale.

Aaron Parker pitched the first three innings with Alexander Donovan working the last three innings for Los Altos. The Yankees, trailing 6-0, tallied two third-inning runs. The Yankees scored two more runs in the fifth inning on a fielder”s choice grounder by Parker and an RBI single by Oren Joffe.

In the top of the sixth, the Yankees had an RBI single to right by Aiden Brenner, a game-tying sacrifice fly by Grant Dincel, capped off by a go-ahead RBI single to left by Joffe. Campbell”s Ethan Tanti hit a walk-off two-run double to center with one out.

The Yankees started the tournament with a 17-1 rout of Sunnyvale Southern at Campbell Field on June 11. The Mountain View A”s were eliminated on Saturday, losing to Santa Clara Briarwood 5-1 in a District 44 Majors TOC game at Santa Clara Homestead Field.

Mountain View lost to Sunnyvale Serra 8-6 in a District 44 Minors TOC game at Campbell Field on June 10. Los Altos defeated Serra 6-3 at Tri-Cities Field in Cupertino on Friday. Campebell eliminated Los Altos 9-5 at Campbell Field on Saturday.

The District 44 Juniors TOCs started on Monday.
