BERKELEY — Two more men were arrested this week in connection with the slaying of a 36-year-old man in Berkeley in December, police said.

Khalil Phanor, 18, of San Leandro, and Gregory Foote, 19, of Hayward, were the third and fourth suspects arrested for the shooting death of Kamahl Middleton on Dec. 29 on San Pablo Avenue near University Avenue, police said.

Phanor was arrested in Everett, Washington, on Thursday after Berkeley police notified federal investigators that he may have fled there. Foote was arrested Friday in the 2300 block of Tahiti Street.

Phanor has been charged with homicide and special circumstances, Berkeley police said. It was not immediately clear what charges Foote will face.

Earlier this month, police arrested 20-year-old Carl Young of San Leandro and a 17-year-old boy, also facing charges for the homicide. Middleton, a paraplegic from El Sobrante, was shot in a parking lot along with a woman, who survived.

After the shooting, police said Middleton was possibly shot during a robbery.
