Army Pvt. Christopher B. Elliott has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training. In addition, Elliott studied drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Elliott is the son of Bridget Elliott of Concord, and is a 2014 graduate of Mt. Diablo High School in Concord.


Brandon J. Faix has been named 2014 Fleet Readiness Center Southwest Detachment Point Mugu Sailor of the Year.

Faix is the son of Michael and Linda Faix of Concord.

He is a 2008 graduate of Mt. Diablo Adult Education in Concord, and earned an associate degree in 2013 from Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley.
