BERKELEY — The remains of two wild boars were found dumped outside two vegetarian restaurants in the city this week, police said Wednesday.
The first sighting took place just before 9:30 a.m. Monday outside Herbivore at 2451 Shattuck Ave., Officer Jennifer Coats said. The restaurant”s manager told officers he found the remains of a wild boar head atop a newsstand across the street from the business.
By the time police arrived, downtown ambassadors had cleaned up the carcass, Coats said.
Less than an hour later, at 10:21 a.m., police found another boar head near Flaco”s at 3031 Adeline St., Coats said.
That time, police removed the remains, Coats said.
Officers said they are not sure of a motive.
“We don”t know who left them or why,” Coats said. “Don”t know if it was just a prank. (There”s) no specific law associated with dumping boar skins other than illegal dumping or littering.”
