PERSIMMONS GARDEN GALLERY REDWAY >> On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Persimmons Garden Gallery in Redway presents Jefferson Parson. Jefferson is a singer-songwriter with roots in Appalachia, New York, Nashville and Humboldt County. Following two acclaimed folk protest albums (“The Baby and the Bathwater” and “Jefferson’s Laments”), his recent album “Hillbilly Hook” (produced by bluegrass icon Peter Rowan) is the lyrical homecoming of a country boy–an anthem of Americana itself, a lariat of rockabilly ballads, elegies, laments, country blues and love songs guaranteed to lasso your heart. On Thursday, Oct. 9, hip hop artist Eli Fowler, “Littlekidlost,” and his friends will take the stage for an exciting evening of poetry and spoken word, which they will perform in their own inimitable style. There will be an opportunity in the evening for audience participation, so if you would like to sign up to do your own poem or spoken word piece, please call at 223-0422.

On Friday, Oct. 10, jazz vocalist Joani Rose will return to the Persimmons stage accompanied by Jim Wilde on guitar, Michael Curran on drums and Damien Roomets on bass. Rose loves to sing tunes of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s from classic songwriters like Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, Henry Mancini and many others.
