EUREKA >> Pete Haggard, who with his wife Judy, co-authored the excellent field guide, Insects of the Pacific Northwest, will be the guest presenter at the Thursday, Oct. 9, meeting of the Humboldt Rose Society (HRS). The group meets at Christ Church Episcopal, 15th and H Streets, Eureka, at 7 p.m. in the parish hall, entry on 15th or from the parking lot.

Accompanied by his exceptional photography, Haggard will talk about Common Insects of Humboldt, bringing them safely up close, with possible stories of camouflage and mimicry, showing the beauty and some ugliness. Haggard has worked in California as an agricultural inspector for over 30 years.

Interested members of the communities are welcome. Refreshments are provided. Bring questions and bug specimens to be identified. The group’s “experts,” (rosarians) who have taken certified training in rose history, care, and maintenance, can provide information helping to achieve successful rose growing in the various climates of our north coast. Bring those questions, as well.

For additional information about the meeting or HRS call 707-443-1284.
