Being ”tough but fair” isn”t enough for judge
In response to the letters regarding the upcoming Superior Court Judge election: While being a good judge definitely involves being “tough but fair,” it also needs to include being respectful and civil to all parties in the courtroom — everyone from the attorneys, to the bailiffs, to the court reporters, victims and defendants. The judge presides over the courtroom and needs to be able to maintain a positive working environment in addition to making tough decisions in order to ensure each case is given the attention it deserves.
Eric Ortner not only has the experience and breadth of knowledge required to be a good judge he also has the respect of his colleagues and all parties who work in the court system and the temperament and demeanor we want in a great judge.
