Don”t believe mailers; do your own research
Please, everyone, if you receive an election guide from Torrance, California, that appears to agree with everything your political party would advise right down to the nonpartisan Butte County County Board of Supervisors race in your own particular district, throw it away. Some deep pockets somewhere (this year they call themselves something like “Coalition for Literacy”) have enough money to send out these precise, area-specific guidelines to everyone in California, and these “guides” are devised, unobviously, to pass or shoot down some special interest.
These guides are so well done it”s hard to see just where the wool is being pulled over our eyes. I suspect this year it”s the obvious lack of advice on Proposition 42, a very important issue dealing with the public”s access rights to public documents. Thus, I urge you to see who”s endorsing Proposition 42, and cast your vote accordingly. Because the League of Women Voters endorses it, I”m definitely voting yes on Proposition 42.
