KMUD and Burningleaf Productions are extremely proud to present Spectacular Spectacular, A Dinner Circus Cabaret on Saturday, April 5. It will be a fine French feast with theatrical treats. Be wined and dined while enjoying an exhilarating evening of cabaret and cirque, spectacle and sensuality.

The Portuguese Hall in Arcata, transformed into a Moulin Rouge inspired circus lounge, sets the stage for this enticing and spectacular night. Doors open at 7 p.m. for an hour of cocktails, hand passed hors d’oeuvres, and theatrics. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest circus cabaret attire. The photo booth will be open.

Chefs Paul Lefever and Geoffrey Goldsmith will prepare a delicious organic French feast. On the menu will be Copper River smoked salmon mousse with crostini, chevre stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, a spring vegetable tart, spinach salad with Fontana, pancetta, and beet vinaigrette, seared local Bayside lamb over a roasted root vegetable risotto, shaved Brussels sprouts and wild mushroom au jus and for desert, an assortment of delectables. Gluten free and vegetarian options will be available.

While enjoying dinner, the audience will be dazzled by talent from local and a far. Stretching the senses in all directions, this variety cabaret combines vaudeville, comedic hilarity, acrobatic and contortionist wonder, and sensual dance of many styles including acts from the Redwood Rings Hoop Troupe and Southern Humboldt’s Bada Bling Burlesque. The 17-piece, LoveBomb Go-Go Marching band of Portland will provide the baseline for this sizzling variety show. With an intergalactic indie-Balkan-funk-punk esthetic, LBGG delivers an exhilarating and theatrical barrage of original and dynamic music.

After dinner two stages will present music for a dance party extraordinaire. Expect a strong dose of booty shaking break beats and house when Mancub hits the stage. Opening up the night Space Cowboys veteran, DJ Mancub, has over 20 years experience throughout the U.S. and U.K.

Coming all the way from Washington D.C., DJ Rusty Belicek of the All Good Funk Alliance will deliver a sound that is funky, fresh and fun.

Headlining the night is Oakland singer, emcee, and producer, Lafa Taylor. Lafa’s music carries a message of inspiration and activation. Lafa’s vocal style ranges from sweet melodic choruses to tongue twisting rhymes blurring the lines between live hip-hop, R and B and raw bass music. Accompanied by his two backup singers and drummer, this dynamic group is infectiously harmonic, with bass heavy, multi-tempo music that fiercely heats up the dance floor.

The doors open at 7 p.m. for cocktail hour. The dinner cabaret will commence at 8 p.m. Doors open for the extravagant dance party at 10 p.m. The cost for the entire evening, including dinner and entertainment, is $50. These tickets are limited, available in advance only and will sell out. Tickets for the 10 p.m. dance party are $20 in advance and at the door for $25. Students pay $15 with student ID. This is an 18-and-over event.
