Employees and retirees from PG&E raise money annually to support nonprofit organizations and schools through the utility”s Campaign for the Community.

The group from the north-state counties of Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Sutter, Colusa, Plumas and Shasta raised $331,548 over the year.

Statewide, the amount was a record-breaking $6.5 million. In addition, PG&E will provide nearly $2 million in matching grants to schools and qualifying organization designated by the employees and retired workers in 2014.


Allstate Insurance agency owner Gary Short of Chico was recognized by the company with a community award.

Short helped three Chico nonprofit organizations receive $1,000 grants from the Allstate Foundation.

Those recipients were the Boys and Girls Clubs of the North Valley, Chico Rotary Club Foundation, and Enloe Hospital Foundation.
