WILLOWS — The Glenn County Sheriff”s Office is investigating the alleged attempted murder of a 55-year-old man who was found at his home with multiple stab wounds Tuesday morning.
Authorities were alerted by a relative of the victim, John Joseph Arano, who called 9-1-1 after finding him bleeding on the floor at about 10:55 a.m. at his residence in the 400 block of North Colusa Street in northeast Willows, according to the Glenn County Sheriff”s Office.
The Willows Fire Department arrived at about 11 a.m. and determined Arano had been stabbed multiple times in his upper body, according to a press release. Members of the Glenn County Sheriff”s Office arrived at about 11:05 a.m.
Arano, who lives alone, was allegedly found on the floor just inside the entrance of his bedroom, according to the Sheriff”s Office. There were indications that he lost a large amount of blood, but was conscious.
He was taken to Glenn Medical Center and then airlifted to Enloe Medical Center in Chico.
An update on Arano”s condition was not available by deadline.
A deputy was able to ask the victim some questions at the hospital before he was taken into surgery and Arano told authorities that two white men entered his unlocked home during the night, and beat and stabbed him.
Arano stated he lost consciousness during the attack and couldn”t provide more information, according to the Sheriff”s Office.
A relative of Arano”s told the Sheriff”s Office while at the scene that she saw him at about 7 p.m. Monday. When Arano was not seen Tuesday morning and did not answer phone calls, she was sent to check on him and found him lying on the floor bleeding.
It does not appear robbery was a motive, but information is limited, according to the Sheriff”s Office.
