Kindergarten entry requirements have changed. State law now requires students to be five years old by Nov. 1, 2012, to enroll in kindergarten. Children with birthdays between Nov. 1 and Dec. 2 are eligible to enroll in our transitional kindergarten program. Registration for both programs will be held at Redway School, in the Family Resource Center, on Wednesday, March 7, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The FRC is the small building located on the lower side of the of the school playground, near the basketball courts, on Whitmore Avenue. Since parking is limited on that street, please park in the main school parking lot and walk down. Signs will be posted near the school office with directions.

The kindergarten teachers will be meeting with each parent and child. We hope to have our school nurse available to do vision screenings and meet with parents as needed. A Spanish interpreter will also be available.

Additionally, staff from the Family Resource Center will have information on programs and services available to children and families. Our P.T.A. will provide refreshments.

Please bring the following with you when you come to register your child:

o Your child to meet the teachers and participate in vision and hearing screenings.

In order to plan for next fall we need to know how many students to expect for our kindergarten classes. Please tell your acquaintances that have children eligible for next fall’s kindergarten class that registration will be March 7.
