VINA — Cal Fire Tehama/Glenn County will burn 523 acres of grass at the Nature Conservancy”s Vina Plains Reserve starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, in a move to stop invasive weeds like medusa head and starthistle.

The burn will take place near Lassen Road and Highway 99 and will continue to 3 p.m.

Cal Fire works with landowners for controlled burns through the Vegetation Management Program, which helps to share costs of controlled burns and encourages landowners to maintain private property.
