The local radio station formerly known as ESPN 1340 AM last week became 1340 Fox Sports, according to sports director Mike Baca.
It”s a move, Baca said, that had to be made due to the recent rate hike that the ESPN corporate headquarters handed down.
Local programming won”t change, as the station will still cover Chico State and Butte College athletics, and Baca hopes to add Paradise High football to the mix.
The station also needs sponsors, and due to the strong signal in Oroville, the station will also have to consider covering more Oroville High School and Las Plumas games.
National programming won”t change, with every San Francisco Giants game still aired in its entirety, in addition to more college football games. Weekday and weekend disc jockey shows will be streamlined online at 1340foxsportsradio.com.
