PARADISE — Paradise Unified School District board member Mike Greer has announced he”s running for Butte County Supervisor in the June 2012 election.

“I have questions with things in the budget,” Greer said. “I”m still upset with the way the supervisors gave themselves a raise.”

In 2006, the board approved a 56 percent raise for themselves. “It”s hard to believe that a supervisor gets $53,000 a year for what they do,” Greer said. He said if elected one of his first actions would be to decrease those salaries.

He also said it”s difficult for residents to attend supervisor meetings during the day. Greer said at least some meetings should be held in the evening so more people can attend without taking time off from work.

He said he hasn”t been going to the meetings because as a special education teacher in Yuba City, he is working when they happen.

Sitting 5th District Supervisor Kim Yamaguchi”s term is up in January 2013. He has not indicated if he will seek re-election.
